Laboratory Results
Laboratory results are generally sent to your healthcare institution. Under certain conditions the results can also be viewed in the Kanta service. An exception are patients with a referral from a private doctor.
Your own doctor is always responsible for interpreting the laboratory results for you. If any questions arise concerning your laboratory results, please contact your healthcare institution.

Kanta Service
Laboratory results produced by Nordlab can be viewed in the Omakanta service. This however requires that your healthcare institution (health centre or hospital), as the entity which has ordered the test, has joined the national Kanta service. In addition, the healthcare institution must upload the laboratory information to the Kanta service.
In other words, the healthcare institution which has ordered the tests (health centre, hospital, etc.) is responsible for uploading the results to the Omakanta service, not the laboratory.

Laboratory Results for Patients Referred by a Private Doctor
Patients with a referral from a private doctor generally get their results sent to their home address by mail. Please check the delivery policy in conjunction with your sample collection, as it can vary based on municipality. In order to ensure adequate privacy, results are not delivered to a customer by phone or email.
Municipality-specific things to note regarding delivery of results:
In the North Ostrobothnia hospital district laboratory results are sent to OmaPosti (you must accept “Pohjois-Suomen laboratoriokeskuksen liikelaitoskuntayhtymä” as a sender before having your sample collected).
In the Kainuu region results are picked up from the laboratory. An identity check is always performed.
