Instructions for Self-Paying Customers
When you arrive to have your samples collected you must have a physical copy of a referral from a private doctor and an appointment for “services for self-paying customers”. The physical copy of your referral will remain with Nordlab. NB If you have a so-called digital referral, please bring a printed version with you.
Services for self-paying customers (with a private doctor’s referral) are intended for non-acute laboratory tests.
You need choose the “Self-paying Customer Service” option in your booking. Please observe that not all Nordlab sample collection sites offer services for self-paying customers.

Proof of Guardianship of Underage Child
Underage self-paying customers are treated the same as adults, if they are able to visit Nordlab independently based on their age and level of development. Otherwise underage patients are treated with the consent of their guardian (Act on the Status and Rights of Patients).
If an underage patient visits Nordlab with a chaperon, the chaperon must prove they are the underage patient’s guardian. This is to ensure the privacy of the underage patient and that they are being treated with the consent of their guardian. For instance logging into the www.suomi.fi service and proving one’s guardianship from Registers->Digital and Population Data Services Agency->Personal Data->Personal relationships is sufficient proof. For instance a screenshot of the webpage can be shown.
Test Results
NordLab is not responsible for interpreting test results.
Generally test results are sent by mail to the customer’s home address. Please check on the delivery policy while having your sample collected. The laboratory does not upload results onto the national OmaKanta service. In order to ensure adequate privacy, results are also not delivered to a customer by phone or email.
In the North Ostrobothnia hospital district laboratory results are sent to OmaPosti (you must accept “Pohjois-Suomen laboratoriokeskuksen liikelaitoskuntayhtymä” as a sender before having your sample collected).
In the Kainuu region results are picked up from the laboratory. An identity check is always performed.
Billing and Pricing
The price of the most common laboratory tests is between 1,50 and 10 euros. The bill includes the sample collection and delivery fees, which in 2022 is altogether 32 euros. Nordlab retains the right to change prices.
A bill of the performed tests is sent to your home address after all the tests have been analysed.
